Huge 90s UK Rock Band Make Oasis Dig As They Announce Anniversary Tour

Britpop heavyweights Blur to take to the stage once more to celebrate 25 years of their self-titled album.

Blur will mark the silver anniversary of their breakthrough album, Blur, with a huge UK tour and a reissue of the record on vinyl, CD, and streaming platforms.

The band's fifth studio album was released on February 10, 1997, and featured the hit singles "Beetlebum", "Song 2", and "On Your Own". The album was a huge commercial success, reaching number one in the UK and selling over 1 million copies worldwide.

Blur are promising fans a "memorable" live experience.

The tour will kick off in Glasgow on April 8th, 2023 and will take in cities including Manchester, Birmingham, London, and Leeds. Damon Albarn, the lead singer of Blur, said in a statement: "We're really excited to be playing these shows. It's going to be a great opportunity to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the album with our fans." With Britpop rivals Oasis announcing a reunion tour of their own, Damon quipped that Blur were "doing it bigger and better."

"Oasis can do a Knebworth reunion," he said. "We're playing stadiums." Fans of both bands have reacted with excitement at the prospect of seeing the two Britpop giants back on stage together. Tickets for Blur's UK tour go on sale on December 12th.
