Füllkrug a big doubt to face the Netherlands
A doubt for the attack
Niclas Füllkrug is a big doubt for Germany’s Nations League clash with the Netherlands on Saturday. The Werder Bremen striker came off in the first half of Germany’s 1-1 draw with Italy on Tuesday with a shoulder injury.
Germany coach Hansi Flick said after the game that Füllkrug is a doubt for the match against the Netherlands.
A big loss for Germany
If Füllkrug is unable to play, it would be a big loss for Germany. The 29-year-old has been in impressive form for Werder Bremen this season, scoring seven goals in seven Bundesliga games.
Füllkrug has also scored two goals in two Nations League games for Germany.
Other options for Germany
If Füllkrug is ruled out, Flick has a number of other options in attack.
Timo Werner, Kai Havertz and Leroy Sané are all capable of playing in the central striker role.
However, none of those players are in as good form as Füllkrug at the moment.
Netherlands a tough test
The Netherlands will be a tough test for Germany, even if Füllkrug is able to play.
The Dutch are currently ranked eighth in the world and have a number of talented players, including Memphis Depay, Frenkie de Jong and Virgil van Dijk.
Germany will need to be at their best to get a result against the Netherlands.
